NASA announced first mission to touch the sun’s outer atmosphere next summer. The Parker Solar Probe will travel at 6,92,017.9 km/h. It is equivalent of travelling from New York to Delhi in 2 minutes. It can withstand up to 2500°F. It’s a small spacecraft that could fit into a refrigerator. This mission will give scientists a closer look at how stars work.
As told by NASA, the experiment is specifically designed to answer two key questions:
1. Why is the sun’s outer atmosphere so much hotter than the sun’s visible surface?
2. What propels the solar wind that affects earth and our solar system?
