Ramadan Kareem Mubarak!
There was a sudden stir in the people in the shops and roadside open markets. The city has all of a sudden witnessed an unprecedented surge in vendors who sell fruits, vegetables and many more items by Saturday evening. What can be the reason? You bet! Yes, it’s the commencement of the holy month of Ramzan starting from Sunday.
The crescent has been spotted on Saturday evening which is the harbinger of the holy month of fasting. People were seen in euphoria hugging and greeting each other after the appearance of the crescent. Happiness and radiance were palpable on their faces. There was a positive change in the weather of Hyderabad which turned it into a Camelot.
Hyderabad is lit up during this festive month. The nights are lively. The smell of itrs (scents) and food waft across the city. Haleem is the special dish of this season. Hyderabad becomes a food capital. It turns into a sea of food for the connoisseurs offering a wide range of food items to savor. Desserts like Qubani ka Meetha, Double ka Meetha, Kaddu ki Kheer, Afghan jalebi and etc. are available to take proper care of your sweet tooth. The markets are visibly crowded and the roads are occupied with all kinds of fruits especially date fruit. During the nights, myriads of shopping centers, and small joints which are set up to offer a variety of snacks and quick meals are open throughout the night making the city go live wire.
Muslims fast from morning to evening and offer prayers in the night in reverence of the Almighty. This month is considered pious and pristine. Each and every day of this season, they exhibit utmost perseverance in upholding the sanctity of fasting to not let go off even a single day.
